Apolonia started as a Phenician city, and was the only one back then that was producind purple die and exporting it all around the Mediterranean sea. Later on the crusaders built a fortress there which didn't last very long and ended up being conquered by the Mameluks, who forced the crusaders to destroy and burn the fort.
After visiting it we enjoyed the sunset in Herzlia MArina and a nice sushi dinner.
